This is helped tremendously with mosquitoes. Christian does a great job treating the yard. We noticed almost immediately a decrease in mosquitoes when we are outside in the evenings. I love that they will come back and spray again if we notice more between treatments.

We switched to Skeeter Eater last spring and the mosquito control in our yard with their treatment, PLUS the added mosquito trap, has been amazing!! I’ve tried 3 other companies, by far they have been the best and highly recommend giving them a try. My tech Christian is very nice and helpful if I have any questions, plus they always make sure my gates are securely closed when leaving. All their employees are! ONE of the other best parts is…they are super respectful of my “do not knock sign” I put out if my grandbabies are sleeping 😊

Mosquito Control FAQs in Salt Lake County

The Jordan River, Decker Lake, and the wetlands near the Great Salt Lake provide constant moisture and shallow pools where mosquitoes breed. Even if you live a mile or two away, winds can carry adult mosquitoes into surrounding neighborhoods, making regular yard treatments important county-wide.

Generally, yes. Higher-elevation foothill communities experience less standing water and lower humidity, which limits breeding. However, ponds, irrigation runoff, and dense landscaping can still support local populations — so control measures remain useful even up the benches.

Over-irrigation is one of the top mosquito triggers here. Sprinkler overspray, clogged drip lines, or ornamental ponds create ideal breeding conditions. Simple fixes — like repairing leaky valves, adjusting timers, and keeping grass trimmed — can reduce mosquito pressure dramatically.

The SLCMAD monitors and controls mosquito populations throughout the county. They set traps, treat breeding sites, and test for West Nile virus. Homeowners can report high activity or request inspections directly at slcmad.org.

Absolutely. After summer rainstorms, puddles, planters, and low-lying lawns can hold water for several days — long enough for mosquitoes to hatch. You’ll typically see a spike 7–10 days after a stretch of wet weather.

  • Dump standing water weekly (planters, toys, gutters, and bird baths).
  • Keep lawns and shrubs trimmed to limit shady resting areas.
  • Use professional barrier sprays every 3–4 weeks during peak season.
  • For homes near rivers or canals, add larvicide dunks or traps for long-term suppression.

From Salt Lake City to Sandy, West Valley to Draper, Skeeter Eater protects families all across Salt Lake County with reliable mosquito spraying services. Whether you live in a quiet neighborhood in Herriman, a busy area in Murray, or near the foothills in Cottonwood Heights, our treatments are designed to keep your yard mosquito-free so you can enjoy more time outdoors.
